From Vision to Reality

How It All Started

CETS is a U.S. company, registered in Madison, Wisconsin, and founded in 2004. CETS set out with a vision to develop a commercially viable system to rapidly produce high-quality seed potatoes without the exorbitant costs of constructing and maintaining large greenhouse facilities. CETS goal was to create a compact, stand-alone growth chamber that exceeded the capabilities of traditional models. It was desirable for it to support small seed potato growers, while also being easily scalable for larger operations.

The Phytotron was designed through dedication and hard work. Originally tailored for seed potato production, it was optimized to grow up to 15,000 minitubers per year in a footprint of just 64 square feet. Success was achieved by refining key factors such as temperature, lighting, growing media, irrigation, and nutrient solutions.

Today, CETS is proud to offer this unique and efficient system to seed potato growers across the U.S. and around the world.

In recent years, CETS has continued to evolve the Phytotron, expanding its capabilities to grow more than just seed potatoes. By refining adjustable temperature, lighting, and irrigation for day and night cycles, and adding customizable lighting intensity, it’s become even more versatile. This technology has proven highly successful across diverse environments—supporting projects in beautification, food production, restoration, education, and even mental health.

CETS intends to continue advancing the Phytotron and invites you to explore how this innovative technology can support your growing needs. Just ask any of our past customers—we stand firmly behind our product and are committed to your success every step of the way.
